In this article, I will show you how to install Turbo C on Windows 8. First, you must download Turbo C from here. Extract it. For example, I extract it to C:\DOS. There is install.exe file there, that is Turbo C installer utility. But, you can’t execute that file.
You’ll need, DOS Box to run Turbo C (and its installer). DOS Box is an open source DOS emulator for BeOS, Linux, Mac OS X, OS/2, and Windows. You can download it from here. After download, execute DOS Box installer, then run it.
Next, we must mount C:\DOS to DOS Box. Type command: mount c c:\DOS.
Now we can start to install Turbo C. You can change dir to drive C, then execute install.exe
Now, installation utility will running like image below. If you don’t know how to install Turbo C, you can read entire this post.
Press ENTER to Continue. You’ll be ask for source drive to use. We’ll use Drive C since we extract Turbo C to C:\dos. So, input C then press ENTER.
Later then you’ll be ask for SOURCE path. Just use \ then press ENTER.
Now you will see summary like image below. Select ‘Start Installation’ by moving selector using arrow key UP/DOWN on you keyboard then press ENTER.
Then installation will begin.
Turbo C Installation is Complete, press any key.
You will see readme first.
You can read it or press Esc to Exit from Readme. Now we back to DOS again.
To run Turbo C, change dir to C:\TC\BIN. Then execute TC.EXE
Ta da! Now Turbo C is Running
